Food-processing equipment accumulates flour dust, baked-on sugar, protein residue, grease, and product fines that traditional wet methods either can't fully remove or remove at the cost of long dry-down windows and ATP re-verification.
On a tight sanitation window, the line that has to restart at 0600 can't afford a 90-minute dry-down. And every wet method introduces moisture into bearings, electrical, and refrigeration that wasn't designed to take it.
Why dry ice blasting fits
Dry ice is dry-only — no process water in the bearings, no moisture on the harness, no rinse cycle to time. The blast pass ends and the line is ready for the next process step.
On sticky residues (sugar, dough, batter), the thermal shock embrittles the deposit so it releases cleanly from stainless. On flour and dust, the pellet kinetic energy lifts the buildup off without abrading the seam welds where buildup starts.
